Giving Back – My Story, My Cause :

Our wonderful doctors at Smiles in the Gardens dental office started a “give back” program with each of our employees selecting a charity of choice, and a percentage of our monthly profit will go to that specific charity.
My charity of choice is the RDK Melanoma Foundation. Melanoma prevention is close to my heart as I received a melanoma diagnosis in 2015, had surgery, and have no recurrence to date. I believe this is the case due to an early diagnosis. Living in Florida for the last 30 years has been challenging when it comes to prevention from the sun. Who doesn’t like to go to the beach?! I also am a HARLEY motorcycle rider, giving me even more exposure to the elements. I try to be diligent with sunscreen and protective clothing but in some aspects, that’s still not enough. Prevention, routine screenings, and early detection all certainly have an effect on the outcome of a melanoma diagnosis.
