The Saint Barnabas Medical Center has teamed up with MoleSafe USA to establish the Skin Surveillance Program to more accurately detect skin cancer. The program utilizes advanced tools and methods to identify harmful and changing lesions on the skin. Total body photography is a vital component to the program, by gathering high quality images at each visit they are able to keep track and monitor all parts of the skin.

Most dermatologists will only focus on key areas they deem necessary after the main skin check, however, roughly 50 percent of new skin cancer developments have been known to begin in areas that are not closely watched. This type of full body monitoring could help revolutionize the speed and accuracy with which skin cancer is detected. The program is currently available at MoleSafe locations in New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, and Georgia.
